About the author

Demons with day jobs.

Simon Faraday was born in the 1980s and can’t believe how old he is already.

He writes warm, funny fantasy set in a Manchester where the supernatural has quietly moved in and mostly keeps itself to itself.

He doesn’t have any carnivorous plants because they wouldn’t survive his kids.

His debut novel, The Reluctant Succubus — about a demon who would much rather be a hairdresser — is coming soon. Otto, a short story from the same world, is available now.

At the time of writing, Simon is driving a blue Vauxhall Corsa, and he keeps peering through the blinds, nervously, to check on it.

The best part of the job

Honestly? Hearing from people who’ve read the stories. If something made you laugh, or landed harder than you expected, I’d genuinely like to know. Kind notes, press, rights enquiries, half-formed thoughts and complaints about the eggs are all equally welcome — .
